In the end, yes it matters.

In the end, yes it matters.

If there's one piece of advice I can give the world today, ESPECIALLY photographers. Go home, hug your family, then go import and back up your mobile phone images PROPERLY and seriously, print your bloody photographs.

Experiencing the loss of a close friend is devastating, it sends ripples of shock and grief through a community. It also opens the opportunity for genuine venerability between loved ones, which I believe ultimately brings us closer together.

Last week I went back to an archived catalog of a wedding I shot in 2016, gathering photographs of my brides dear friend and bridesmaid who tragically passed away. It was was the least I could do. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to help and equally as glad that I had been able to capture some perfect shots of Claire (above) on that special day last year.

Today, again unexpectedly, I'm searching through an archived catalog searching for images of a loved one, much closer to home. A dear friend to many, yarn spinner, quick witted, dark humoured, sharp, determined, loving family man and a dead set all round legend. Our mate Ben. I found some cracking shots of Ben when he attended a wedding I had shot in 2014. Naturally the boozey reception shots are my favourite. We had so much fun that night.

As I started to search for my personal shots I had taken with Ben on my iPhone, I soon realised after searching my last 4 back up drives that I was missing my iPhone years 2012-2015. A whole iPhone worth of images.

I'm so ridiculously meticulous about cataloguing and backing up my client work and in complete text book hypocrisy, I put off backing up and storing MY OWN MEMORIES correctly.

If there's one piece of advice I can give the world today, ESPECIALLY photographers. Go home, hug your family, then go import and back up your mobile phone images PROPERLY and seriously, print your bloody photographs.

All of you. Don't make excuses. Just do it. And if you can't get it together, engage a professional that will do it for you.

Spread love, create unity

Love Jannah xx
