Matthew Evans

Matt Evans is an all round champion. If I had any team sport inclinations, this is a dude I'd want on my team. Funny, kind and has great taste in music. You can get to know Matt here...

How long have you been a professional photographer?

I’ve been a full time professional wedding photographer since the end of 2011. I quit my job as a graphic designer to concentrate on my passion.

Where were you born and where do you photograph primarily these days?

I was born in Fremantle, WA. I have lived in Cairns since 1993 and shoot weddings primarily in Palm Cove an Port Douglas.

What’s the furtherest you’ve travelled to photograph an event?

The furthest I’ve travelled for a wedding is Hawaii. Travelling for photography is fun but exhausting! Ideally 1-2 international weddings a year would be perfect!

How many people were at the biggest wedding and smallest wedding?

The biggest wedding I’ve shot was 300+ guests, the smallest was 0 guests (just the bride and groom). On average I’m seeing 60-80 guests at a typical destination wedding.

What’s one thing you think a bride should never skimp cash on on her wedding day?

Personally I think photography is probably the most important thing not to skimp on for your wedding day. It’s the one thing that will last forever.

What’s one thing that kicks you in the feels on a wedding day?

I get a little emotional when I see parents of the bride and groom talking about their kids and how happy they are.

What sort of printed products do you offer your clients?

I offer a big album, it’s a perfect combination with my digital packages.

What do you think about a printed wedding album as a wedding gift?

A printed wedding album is THE best wedding gift. No one wants a new toaster or towels on their wedding day.

What is one thing you wish brides knew about their wedding day in advance, that they only realise after the event?

That there is nothing worth stressing over! The day is over so quick, every moment needs to be enjoyed.

Cheers Matt!
